Fiesta® Dinnerware Takes The Cake

The iconic brand celebrates its 75th Anniversary with a custom confection from Charm City Cakes, of “Ace of Cakes” fame

Newell, W.Va.—(March 6, 2011)—The Homer Laughlin China Company™ is celebrating the 75th Anniversary of its iconic Fiesta® Dinnerware Brand with a custom cake created by Charm City Cakes, of “Ace of Cakes” fame. The cake will be on display the first day of the International Home & Housewares Show in Chicago, March 6, 2011, in Booth S2003 (South Building), culminating in a reception and cake cutting at 4:30 that afternoon.

All are welcome to stop by the booth (S2003) to see the show-stopping cake. The dramatic three-foot diameter design features several of Fiesta’s most iconic pieces – like the signature disk pitcher, butter dish, salt and pepper set, sugar and creamer set, and plates of all sizes – replicated in true-to-life size and form in cake, icing and fondant. The centerpiece of the design is the Fiesta “Dancing Lady”, who’s adorned in 75th Anniversary color Marigold.

“This was such a nostalgic cake for us to create,” says cake designer Graham Coreil-Allen of Charm City Cakes. “Many of us at Charm City Cakes collect Fiesta; I grew up eating on Fiesta. As an artist I can appreciate the simplicity and iconic nature of the designs. I was inspired by the concentric circles and vibrant colors of the collection. We are so honored to play a role in this 75th Anniversary celebration!”

The cake itself is made in two flavors that embody the festive spirit of the Fiesta brand: Italian Orange & Vanilla and Strawberry Shortcake. While the cake will be on display the entire day on March 6, the cake cutting and reception will be held at 4:30 that afternoon and is open to all attendees of the show.

“The Homer Laughlin China Company is so proud to have produced the Fiesta Dinnerware brand for 75 exciting years,” says Fiesta Dinnerware’s Rich Brinkman. “To see Fiesta Dinnerware embodied in cake will provide such a fun experience for Fiesta enthusiasts, enabling them to come to see not only this amazing cake, but also see what’s new with the Fiesta brand.” The company is introducing several new products at the show, including 75th Anniversary color Marigold, limited edition Soup Tureen, an expanded holiday collection, and more.
